ANTARSYA: Message to the 50th International Antiwar Assembly in Japan

Dear comrades, 

We send you our warmest greetings to the 50th International Antiwar Assembly together with a solidarity message to the Japanese people who experienced the disaster of the atomic bomb, the cruelty of the US imperialism and the absolute catastrophe brought by the nuclear disaster while entering the Cold War period. 

We send this message on behalf of the Anticapitalist Left Cooperation for the Overthrow (ANTARSYA) in Greece, which follows the evolutionary path of a social war proclaimed by the government and the capital together with the EU, the ECB and the IMF during the last two.

The reduction of salaries, the unbearable burden of taxes for the poor, the destroyed Health System and the deconstructed Social Care, the privatisation of public wealth and especially the continuous attempt to save the banking system may seem to occur in order to pay up the debt and therefore guarantee Greece’s membership in the Eurozone. 

In fact the aim of the Memorandum singed by the greek government and EU-ECB-IMF is to force working people to pay for the capitalist crisis. Such policies have lead to the crisis of democracy, too since people are being obliged to accept the unacceptable Memorandum. The democratic rights are being violated, demonstrations are being repressed, while fascists and neo-nazis gain ground within the sharpened social antagonism. 

What is happening is nothing more than another plan of social robbery organised by the IMF as already occurred in many other countries in the past. Today in times of capitalist crisis, the disastrous pattern of the IMF is being transferred from the EU to Europe in order to prove that the Eurozone is nothing more than a “club” of the powerful and the enemies of the working class.

Within the same framework of the capital’s unhesitating plans, nuclear energy constitutes a dominant choice although putting people and nature in jeopardy. In the same time, capitalist crisis leads to the sharpening of nationalist antagonism and therefore to a certain race of war adventurism.The emerging alliances formed with the US and China as the two central poles prove that the capitalists will not hesitate to even proclaim war in order to survive and open new ways for profit and newborn markets.

The events in North Africa and the Middle East, the Arab Spring and what followed showed once again that people and mass mobilisations are able to create historical events. Such events prove also that imperialists and the capital will not leave power easily and that they will attempt to use every political insufficiency and contradiction as well as fundamentalism, nationalism and racism in order to manipulate, divide and finally control people and stop the social dynamics emerged. 

In these tough but fruitful times we keep walking having the confidence that people will finally win with international solidarity as their powerful weapon. We hope that a new period will be born and struggling people in Japan and Greece will unite against the common enemy putting forward the international support and solidarity. 

We send you our warmest greetings for your assembly that constitutes a vital contribution to the antiwar struggle of people and a crucial attempt to create a world with no exploitation; the world of the socialist attempt and the communist perspective.
